The instalment before this, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, was a game I didn’t want to end, I slowly eked out every inch of fun that I could from it. Tellingly, I sped through Revelations as quickly as I could. Its not a bad game by any means, but it lacks the polish and infectious quality of the previous 2 games. The formula is starting to get a little stale and this game does not add much to it except a poorly considered tower defence game that I gratefully only had to play through once.
It is a treat to play as Ezio again, and the story of this older, hardened man is a good one. We spend a lot of time in Constantinople which is often fun to experience, and we occasionally get to flash back to the first game’s lead, Altair, another treat. Desmond’s modern day tale in this game is forgettable. He’s stuck in the Matrix Animus or something. Disappointing after Brotherhood ended on such a strong little cliffhanger.
Verdict: If you are a fan of the series, you’ve played this game already. Otherwise, this might be the one to skip. I don’t think there is that much story to miss and by the next game the modern day story is so absurd it doesn’t even matter.
Should Bradley play this: Nah. Try out Assassin’s Creed 2 if you’re curious.
